Environment-related translation has become increasingly
vital in the past few years. From research reports by private environmental
organizations to corporate reports on environmental initiatives, ISO 14000
manuals, scientific treatises, environmental impact assessments (EIAs), international
conference presentations and documents, and media reports, translation in
this field is growing by leaps and bounds. Despite this rapidly increasing
demand, however, there are as yet very few specialists in this area, a situation
that unfortunately often leads users to rely on non-specialists.
